The People Union

Get Involved

Money matters, but this work runs on people. Whatever you have to give, there is a young person whose life it can change.

Volunteer

Become a mentor, teach a life-skills class, coach a mock interview, help a young person practice for the driving test, or serve meals. Most volunteer roles ask for just a few hours a month; all volunteers working directly with participants complete a background check and orientation.

Employers: Hire a Second Chance

Our participants arrive trained, supported, and hungry to prove themselves, and they come with a support team behind them. Employer partners gain reliable entry-level talent and may qualify for the federal Work Opportunity Tax Credit for eligible hires. Let us show you how second-chance hiring can be your best hiring.

Landlords & Housing Partners

If you own rental property in California, you can help solve the hardest part of this puzzle. We work with landlords to provide reliable, supported tenants, with program staff who remain involved.

Churches & Community Organizations

We invite parishes, congregations, and community groups to partner with us, hosting drives for personal care items, sponsoring a young person’s first month of independence, or providing mentors from within your community.

Donate Goods & Vehicles

Donated reliable used cars power our Keys Program, and donations of furniture, household goods, hygiene items, and professional clothing directly outfit new homes and new careers. Vehicle and in-kind donations are tax-deductible; we will provide a receipt for your records.

Corporate Sponsorship

Sponsor a home, a training cohort, or the Keys Program. Corporate partners receive recognition on our website and reports [and co-branding opportunities], and, more importantly, a measurable, transparent account of exactly what their investment achieved.
