Q: What is The People Union?
A: A California 501(c)(3) nonprofit, founded in 2020, that helps young adults ages 18–28 leaving foster care or incarceration build independent lives through housing, food, transportation, job training, and voluntary spiritual mentorship.

Q: Is my donation tax-deductible?
A: Yes. The People Union Inc. is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) (EIN: 85-4058897). You will receive a receipt for every gift.

Q: The organization was founded in 2020: what has it done so far?
A: We will always answer this honestly: The People Union spent its early years in formation, and our direct-service programs are launching now. That is exactly why we publish everything on our Transparency page, so you can watch, in real numbers, what your support builds from the very first dollar.

Q: Is The People Union a religious organization?
A: We are rooted in the Greek Orthodox Christian faith, and spiritual mentorship is one of our services. But all our services are open to young people of every faith or none, and participation in anything spiritual is entirely voluntary.

For Young People Seeking Help

Q: Who qualifies for your programs?
A: Young adults ages 18–28 in California who are transitioning out of foster care or reentering the community after incarceration. Apply via the Register page or Contact page; referrals from social workers, probation officers, and clergy are welcome.

Q: Does it cost anything?
A: Core services are provided at no cost. Housing may involve a modest, income-based program fee that doubles as practice for real-world budgeting, much of it returned as savings when a participant graduates.

Q: Do I have to be religious to get help?
A: No. Ever.

Q: How do I know my money is used well?
A: Visit our Transparency page. We publish all income and expenses, our annual IRS filings, and our program results. Openness is not a feature of our organization; it is the foundation of it.

Q: Can I donate a car or goods instead of money?
A: Yes. Reliable used vehicles power our Keys Program, and furniture, hygiene items, and work clothing are always needed. See Get Involved.

A: We serve California today, and we intend to expand nationwide as resources grow.
